CURRENT ACADEMIC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Dr Kavitha Karimbi Mahesh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Data Science, Prasanna School of Public Health, 沙巴体育 Academy of Higher Education, 沙巴体育. Having pursued her doctoral degree in Computer Science with specialization in Natural Language Processing (NLP), her research interests are Data Analytics using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques, and AI for Social good. Her area of expertise includes low-resource NLP, lexical data augmentation. She engages programming and computer science related courses for the students of post-graduate programme in Data Science and supervises post-graduate research projects.

She has worked as Principal Investigator for a VGST funded project on translation lexicon augmentation under the scheme RGS/F (2018-19) and has assisted as Co-Investigator for the project funded by FCT, Portugal (2011 - 2013). She is a Senior Member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

Dr Kavitha Mahesh has published more than 15 research articles in peer-reviewed international conference proceedings, book chapters and journals, which have been indexed in WoS, Scopus and DBLP. She has contributed as resource person in workshops and FDPs and has delivered invited lectures on Natural Language Processing and related topics.
