Overview

This 12-month, IAPA-approved Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship course is offered to the MD/ DNB Anaesthesiology, qualified candidates. The fellowship training includes anaesthetising children belonging to all ages including newborn and neonates. Specialties include Paediatric Surgery, Paediatric Orthopaedic, Paediatric Neurosurgery, Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, Paediatric ENT & Urological procedures. They will have exposure to provision of General Anaesthesia and Regional Anaesthesia in these patients. A total of about 1000 children are anaesthetised every year. Fellows will also be involved in managing Paediatric surgical emergencies. There are 3 Professors with Paediatric fellowship degree who will be available for guidance.?The Fellows will also have a posting of 15 days each in Paediatric intensive care and in Neonatal ICU.

The Fellows will be expected to take part in postgraduate academic sessions including case discussions and journal clubs related to paediatrics and neonates. Further, the Fellows are required to take up a 沙巴体育 project in paediatric anaesthesia as well as publish a paper. They are also encouraged to present and write up case reports in Paediatric anaesthesia conference.

As the department is involved in voluntary services for Operation Smile 沙巴体育 and Mission Smile India, fellows can take part in these camps and get further exposure in Anaesthesia for cleft surgeries in children.?
