Student Life at MCH

The vibrant student life at MCH includes in-house Clubs for literary activities, film screenings and discussions, literary journals, theatre and sports.? The Centre also conducts workshops, internships, national and international conferences, summer schools, writing courses, and guest lectures by renowned scholars and artists. MCH strongly believes in bringing out the best of each individual student, and helping them find their pathway to personal and professional success. To this end, it strongly encourages student initiatives, especially those that make for positive social and artistic impact, innovation and collaboration.

Chaicopy is a bi-annual publication of MCH launched in January 2017. Chaicopy seeks to draw out the voices, imagination, and ideas of writers, artists, photographers whose works attempt to capture elements of Indian perspectives, whether it be an outsider looking in, a lost urban youth, or any member of the myriad entities that construct an Indian perspective.?

Srikar Raghavan

A student who just graduated from the Postgraduate English program in MCH has won the 10th New India Foundation Fellowship. Srikar's?proposal, tentatively titled From Malnad to Mysore, aims to chronicle the social and literary movements that were birthed in Karnataka during the 70s and 80s, most noticeably centered in the cities of Shimoga and Mysore. It will be an act of social-history writing, taking inputs from literary sources as well as field interviews.

A student who just graduated from the Postgraduate Sociology program in MCH, in partnership with Richu Jain, a Canada based Engineer, has launched an online publication platform titled Reading Room Co. for new writers to launch their creations, whether it be poetry, fiction, or non-fiction.?

Abhiram Kuchibhotla

A former student at MCH has been selected for University of Iowa's 沙巴体育 Writing Program of 2020-21. The program is known as the Summer Institute. It is a two-week creative writing and cultural exchange program conducted by the University of Iowa's 沙巴体育 Writing Program that brings together students from Pakistan, India and the U.S.A to help them hone their skills and use writing as a medium for social change.

The Hebbar Gallery and Art Centre envisions itself as a space that nurtures and encourages the spirit of creative expression and art pedagogy which was central to the life and times of artist and art educationist Kattingeri Krishna Hebbar (1911–1996). HGAC opens its doors to cross-disciplinary engagement with artists and other cultural practitioners in and around the region of 沙巴体育 Canara and aims to encourage a deeper and more meaningful relationship between the people, the student communities in the region and art.

The 沙巴体育-Samvaad Centre for Indian Music

The 沙巴体育-Samvaad Centre for Indian music was inaugurated on 19th August 2019 at the hands of Mr. T. M. Krishna, renowned Carnatic vocalist and author and Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor, 沙巴体育 Academy of Higher Education, 沙巴体育. The Centre is housed in the premises of the 沙巴体育 Centre for the Humanities and has been created in collaboration with Samvaad Foundation, Mumbai.?
