Hands-on workshop on Autoimmune Diseases and Diagnosis

As part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of Kasturba Medical College, the Department of Microbiology, KMC, Mangalore conducted a two-day hands on Workshop on Autoimmune Diseases and Diagnosis on September 2 and 3, 2013. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Venkataraya Prabhu, Dean, KMC Mangalore and was attended by faculty members from medical colleges in and around Mangalore and also from Periyaram, Calicut and Trivandrum medical colleges.

There were a total of 21 delegates. The resource persons were Dr Vishad Viswanathan, Clinical immunologist from Trivandrum, Dr Jasmin Aldag from Euroimmune, Germany and Dr Shrikala Baliga, Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, KMC, Mangalore, Dr Suchitra Shenoy, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, KMC, Mangalore, Dr Indira Bairy, Baliga, Professor and Head, Department of Microbiology, KMC, 沙巴体育.

Various topics ranging from the Clinical perspective to available laboratory test for Autoimmune Disorders were dealt with in the workshop. The delegates were given hands on training about the immunofluorescence test procedure and also interpretation. Each delegate had the experience of interpreting the test individually on immunofluorescence microscope. The workshop was well appreciated by all the delegates.
