Orientation Program for Para Legal Volunteers took place at the seminar hall of the City Civil Court Complex, Bengaluru. Dr. Rahul Mishra, Associate Professor of Law & Head, Legal Services Clinic, 沙巴体育 Law School, MAHE, Bengaluru along with students represented MLS during the event. The program was aimed at emphasizing the crucial role of para-legal volunteers, particularly in rural areas, and it was a remarkable experience that made lasting impact on my understanding of legal service. The program was graced by distinguished individuals from the legal and academic community.

It was presided over by the Senior Civil Judge & Member Secretary of the DSLA, Shri. Sandeep Salian & President of the Advocates Association, Shri Vivek Subba Reddy. Notably, the event hosted several chief guests and dignitaries, including Shri T G Ravi, General Secretary of Advocates Association, Shri Harish M T, Chief of the Treasury Bar Association & Mr. A B Shetty, Chairman, Urban All India Red Cross Society. The orientation program began with an insightful session on the vital role of para-legal volunteers, especially in rural areas. Each of the guests shared their perspectives thereby emphasizing on the importance of volunteering and providing legal aid to those in need. Their anecdotes about notable achievements in the field of service highlighted the profound impact that individuals could make through voluntary efforts. The audience was diverse, composed of pre-appointed para-legal volunteers and students from various law schools across the district. Mr. Sandeep S, Member Secretary, DLSA (Rural) provided valuable insights into upcoming training programs. The issuance of identity cards on the stage was a significant moment for Newly designated Para Legal Volunteers thereby symbolizing commitment to serving society.

The audience was reminded of its responsibilities as members of the public who hold reasonable authority over certain aspects of public welfare. This served as a call to take??PLV roles seriously and to embrace them with pride. Mr. Sandeep also???discussed the relevance of??various legal acts that could be used to protect and serve the public. He zeroed in on??legislations such as the Mental Health Act of 2017, the Senior Citizens Act & various Legal Aid schemes encompassing aspects like Disaster Management, Public Facilities Management, and addressing issues like Acid Attacks and tribal rights. As para-legal volunteers, 沙巴体育 Law School, UG students were also entrusted upon with an important task to assist mentally challenged individuals around their locality. This involved providing them with support, understanding their unique needs, and helping them access the legal services they required. This responsibility was not just a duty but an honour. It reminded every participant of the profound impact they could have on the lives of individuals who needed assistance the most. The opportunity to serve those who were often marginalized and overlooked was a humbling experience, and all paralegal volunteers were pledged to carry out our duties with dedication and compassion. This program recognized the importance of para-legal volunteers and provided a clear roadmap for our future development and contributions to society.
