MAHE’s Procurement of Solar Energy from ReNew Power Limited

India’s carbon emissions rate has been growing faster than any other major economy in the world. However, initiatives and developments in the recent past are attempting to tackle this concern. India has been one of the foremost countries in developing a national programme to mitigate carbon emissions. And one such successful method is by using energy obtained from sustainable and renewable resources. 沙巴体育 Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has been one such educational hub attempting to be the flagbearer for a more sustainable future. MAHE has reduced approx. 39,574 tCO2e by procuring 42.015 Million Units of Solar energy in Karnataka from ReNew Power Limited during the financial year of 2019-20. This is done using the technological advancements of the modern solar cell. The modem solar cell is an electronic device, fabricated from semiconducting materials. It converts a fraction of the energy contained in sunlight directly to electrical energy at a voltage and current level determined by the type of semiconductor, the solar cell design and construction techniques, and the incident light. 沙巴体育 Academy of Higher Education’s dedication towards energy conservation and clean energy has been recognised by several Independent Power Producers (IPP). ReNew Power, established in 2011 by Sumant Sinha and a subsidiary of ReNew Energy Global PLC, is one of India’s largest renewable energy IPPs in terms of total energy generation capacity. ReNew Power develops, builds, owns and operates utility scale wind and solar energy projects as well as distributes solar energy projects that generate energy for commercial and industrial customers.??In March 2021, ReNew Power also became the first renewable energy company in the world to be recognised as a ‘Lighthouse’ by the World Economic Forum. Such esteemed recognition and collaboration will further encourage MAHE’s quest towards becoming a sustainable, cleaner and greener educational hub.?
