“Ortho Perio Synergy”

The department of Periodontology conducted the Continuing Professional Development Program titled “Ortho Perio Synergy” on the 22nd September 2018. Dr Biju Thomas, Professor and Head, Dept of Periodontology at AB Shetty Institute of Dental Sciences Mangalore was the chief guest for the event. Dr Dilip G Naik, dean who was present for the event, in his address emphasized the need for adapting an inter disciplinary approach for the treatment of dental problems. Dr Rajaganesh Goutham, who is currently practicing in Pune and an alumnus of the department of Orthodontics MCODS Mangalore was the resource person. He stressed on the importance of the role of a Periodontist in the overall management of an orthodontic patient and also spoke on Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics (PAOO). The lecture was attended by around 100 participants, including PGs from the department of Periodontics and Orthodontics from colleges in and around Mangalore and interns from our institute.
