MCOPS celebrated 59th Awards and Annual Day

The 59th Awards and Annual day of MCOPS was celebrated on 27 April 2022 in a grant manner. The program was held in Dr TMA Pai auditorium during the post lunch session of the day. Dr Hrishikesh Damle, CEO and MD, Atrimed Pharmaceuticals, Bengaluru was the chief guest of the function. Lt Gen Dr M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, MAHE and Dr Venkataraya M Prabhu, Pro Vice Chancellor (Health Sciences), MAHE, were the guests of honor. The function started with an auspicious note; a prayer rendered through a classical dance by Ms Manasa of final year B Pharm. The Endowment awards were conferred to those students who made a remarkable track record by excelling in various courses during the academic years 2019-20 and 2020-21. This was followed by awarding the prestigious Dr TMA Pai Gold medal for outstanding research for the years 2020 and 2021. Dr Renuka M bagged this prize for 2021 for her research publication in which Dr Srinivas Mutalik is the corresponding author. In 2020, the award was received by Mr Chetan for the research article for which Dr Usha Y Nayak is the corresponding author. Awards instituted by Dr N Udupa such as travel grants and researcher of the year and supporting staff of the year awards were also distributed during the program. Dr Srinivas Mutalik, Professor and Head, and research coordinator of MCOPS bagged the researcher of the year award 2020 and this award for the year 2021 was shared between Dr Usha Y Nayak and Dr Lalit Kumar of Department of Pharmaceutics. ‘Travel grants 2021’ were awarded to Ms Shirleen Miriam Marques, Mr Nagathirumalesh Chevala and Ms Salwa. The supporting staff of the year award 2020 was given to Mr Harekrishna Samanth and Mr Sanjeeva and for the year 2021, the award was received by Mrs Divya Shenoy and Mr Umesh. Dr Hrishikesh Damle delivered the chief guest address and Lt Gen Dr M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE delivered the presidential address. During his speech, Dr Venkatesh expressed his high esteem for MCOPS, that MAHE is proud of MCOPS and MCOPS is a jewel in the crown of MAHE. Mr Hemanth Kumar, an MPharm student of Pharmaceutical Analysis branch handed over his hand-crafted micro-art on pencil as memento to the dignitaries. The program ended with vote of thanks by Dr Gautham Shenoy, Vice Principal, MCOPS. The program was well organized by Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology under the leadership of Dr Raghu Chandrashekar and Dr Angel Alex was the master of ceremony. The meticulous efforts of the office staff of MCOPS under the leadership of Mrs U Jayashree enabled a flawless execution. The cultural council of MAPS under the coordinatorship of Dr Bhavana Bhat and leadership of Mr Surjo Narayan presented a spectacular cultural show, in which the students of MCOPS presented various cultural programs in an enchanting manner.??
