Report on “Strategizing AMS in Clinical Practice” lecture series

Pharmacy Literacy Club (PLC), Centre for Public Health Pharmacy, MCOPS conducted a lecture series on “Strategizing AMS in Clinical Practice” to enhance the learning experience, update the knowledge regarding antibiotics and support students in their clinical skills in Antimicrobial Stewardship program. The lecture series was conducted as one-hour session at 3 pm for four days during 14-17 February 2023. Dr. Mohammed Asif M, Scientist-C, Department of Microbiology, Kasturba Medical College, 沙巴体育, an alumnus of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, MCOPS, expertly delivered all lectures. In the first lecture, he explained the mechanism of developing resistance in bacteria with examples of MRSA cases. He also taught the basics of antibiotic prescription writing. On the second day, he focused on sepsis and treating sepsis in adults and neonates. The third lecture discussed antibiotics' pharmacokinetic and dynamic features and the correct way to prescribe antibiotics. The final day was a Q&A session, along with antibiogram, antibiotic policy, colistin resistance, and calculation of drug usage discussed. It was a very interactive lecture series, which motivated the students to ask more questions and clarify their doubts. The success of the event was reflected by the results of the pre and post-tests, with better performance of participants in the post-test. More than 40 participants from postgraduate and research scholars attended the lecture series.?
