Curriculum Convention on Outcome Evaluation and NEP Integration in Nursing Curriculum

Curriculum Convention is a deliberate effort to gather the stakeholders under one platform with the purpose to empower faculty to cater to the growing needs and demands of the current education system. 沙巴体育 College of Nursing, MAHE, 沙巴体育 organized the 7th curriculum convention on November 18, 2021, in a blended mode through MS Teams. The Resource Persons for the session were Dr Shankaranarayana Bhat, Associate Director (Faculty Development and Welfare), 沙巴体育 Institute of Technology, MAHE, 沙巴体育, and Mr Renjulal Yeshodaran, Assistant Professor, 沙巴体育 College of Nursing, MAHE, 沙巴体育. Dr Judith Angelitta Noronha, Dean, MCON, MAHE 沙巴体育 welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest, Dr PLNG Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences), MAHE, 沙巴体育. Dr Linu Sara George, Professor and Pillar Head ‘Excellence in Education’ gave an overview of the Convention and emphasized the significance of the curriculum convention and the theme for the day “Outcome Evaluation & NEP Integration in Nursing Curriculum Education’.

Two essential components of any teaching-learning process are interpersonal skills and curriculum evaluation, which decides a student's learning process and helps them achieve expected outcomes, says Chief Guest Dr PLNG Rao. He also emphasized that National Education Policy 2020 envisages revolutionary education policy from the kindergarten level to the professional level education bringing in flexibility, autonomy, and integration. Dr Rao congratulated the Dean and her team for taking up this topic for the curriculum convention involving students, parents, alumni, industry representatives under one platform for effective curriculum implementation.

Dr Shankarnarayana Bhat, in his session on Course Outcome Evaluation in OBE, discussed the importance of alignment of PEO, PO and CO in order to achieve successful course outcomes. Dr Bhat in his interactive session highlighted course outcome assessment rubrics, Nationalized Assessment Index (NAI), design down deliver up approach and Program Articulation Index. Mr Renjulal Yeshodaran, Assistant Professor, MCON MAHE, 沙巴体育 in his session on ‘Challenges in Outcome Evaluation’ outlined the challenges faced by the faculty in implementing outcome evaluation. Dr Bhat facilitated the session and discussed solutions in overcoming these challenges efficiently. ?The session was followed by a group discussion on NEP integration in the Nursing Curriculum by Pillar Representatives of four IOE Pillars. Dr Anice George, Professor, MCON MAHE, 沙巴体育 in her closing remarks pointed that the strength and outcome of a curriculum depend on its successful implementation, where faculty and students work together to achieve intended outcomes that in turn prepare graduates to meet expectations from the healthcare industry.
