沙巴体育 Women’s day is a global day for celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. An equal world is an enabled world and every one of us can do our bit to bring about gender equality, Gender equality is essential for economics and communities to thrive. Collective action and shared ownership for gender parity make 沙巴体育 Women’s day successful (World Economic Forum, 2020).

沙巴体育 College of Nursing, MAHE, 沙巴体育 observed an 沙巴体育 Women’s Day-2020, with a theme, “ #EachforEqual” on 6th March 2020 between 3 pm and 4.30 pm at Anganwadi, Sampigenagar, Udyavar,

The program began with an invocation song by Mrs. Gayathri, a member of a self-help group which was followed by a welcome address by Mrs. Manjula, Asst. Professor, MCON, and MAHE. The program was inaugurated by all the guests by lighting the lamp.

Dr. Shashidhara YN highlighted the significance of the day and theme #Each for Equal and also expressed symbolically. He has emphasized that the female child need to be treated equally as male child and the fair treatment to both the gender need to be initiated by family Women should become more knowledgeable to know about their rights in order to practice the same. He has also encouraged all to have the health insurance and mentioned to avail Ayushman Bharat, Aarogya Karnataka to bear the health expenditure.

Mrs.Nethra, Head Constable, 沙巴体育 Police station focussed on equality, safety and security among women; the laws & rights of the women. She has illustrated on various situations where the women are exposed to the problems and the ways to tackle them. She also mentioned women need to be more active, supportive to all, assertive & alert; should not hesitate to get the legal services.

Dr. Malathi G Nayak, Associate Professor, MCON, MAHE, 沙巴体育 explained on Women’s Health. She has emphasized the role of diet, exercise and health check-ups in order to maintain their health. The consequences of neglecting one’s own health, the common health problems and how to prevent them.

Mr. Prathap Kumar, President, Lions Club, said women need to be cooperative amongst women which makes them self-sufficient. This it leads to empowerment of women

Mrs. Namratha, anganwadi teacher expressed that the program was very informative and was useful to the audience. She has appreciated the participation of Self-help group members, Anganwadi teachers and other community people in larger numbers.

The program came to an end by a vote of thanks by Mrs Manjula, the coordinator of the program. The audience comprised of 60 people including self-help group members, Anganwadi teachers and other community people who participated in the program. They expressed that the program was very useful & informative.
