Flashmob event on AIDS Awareness

The Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, 沙巴体育 College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, in collaboration with the District AIDS Prevention Society (DAPU), organized a public AIDS awareness programme under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The programme aimed to educate the community on the modes of HIV/AIDS transmission, strategies for prevention, and to address the stigma associated with the condition.
The programme featured a series of flash mob performances conducted by third-semester BSc Nursing students at prominent public locations including:
· Udupi City Bus Stand
· Indrali Railway Station
· Canara Mall, 沙巴体育
A group of 10 students actively participated in the flash mob and role play activities, creatively engaging the public to raise awareness about the importance of safe practices and social acceptance of individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
This initiative was coordinated by Dr. Radhika R Pai, Faculty, MCON, in collaboration with:
· Mr. Mahabala, Coordinator, District AIDS Prevention Society
· Ms. Shobha, Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre, Kasturba Hospital, 沙巴体育
· Ms. Kusumavathi, Faculty Representative, MCON, MAHE
The programme was well-received by the public, who responded with positive feedback and appreciation for the initiative. The engaging format and impactful messaging successfully captured public attention and contributed to increased awareness of HIV/AIDS-related issues.
The programme was aligned with the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
· SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
· SDG 4: Quality Education
· SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Through this impactful initiative, MCON continues to foster community engagement and promote health education, reinforcing its commitment to public health and sustainable development.
