Freshers’ Orientation Program- 2025

The orientation program for BSc and PBBSc Nursing students was conducted on August 1, 2025, at T.M.A Pai Hall. The program commenced with an invocation by Ms. Sreelakshmi and her team from the BSc Nursing cohort, setting a serene tone for the event.
This was followed by a warm welcome address by Mrs. Geena Louis Dsouza, Lecturer, 沙巴体育 College of Nursing (MCON), 沙巴体育, who greeted the freshers and dignitaries.
The Chief Guest, Lt. Gen. Dr. M.D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE, then addressed the gathering. He highlighted the world-class facilities available at the university, emphasized strategic approaches toward achieving global learning outcomes, and urged students to actively engage in the affective domain of education.
Dr. Judith A. Noronha, Dean, MCON, 沙巴体育, provided an overview of the college’s vision and mission, emphasizing its commitment to excellence in nursing education, research, and global standards of practice. She emphasized the dual degree program with the University of New Brunswick, Canada. Progress in academic initiatives and ongoing research projects was also outlined, showcasing the institution’s dedication to innovation and continuous improvement.
The hostel orientation session was conducted by the Chief Warden, Colonel Manjunath Pai, who provided a comprehensive overview of hostel rules, facilities, and expectations. His address aimed to familiarize the students with the hostel environment, promote discipline, and ensure a smooth transition into campus life.
Following this, Dr. Geetha Maiyya, Director of Student Affairs, MAHE, provided an insightful overview of the Department of Student Affairs, outlining the support systems and student-centric activities available on campus.
After a brief tea and refreshment break, Dr. Suba Sooria, Head of Nursing Services at Kasturba Hospital, delivered a comprehensive orientation about the hospital and its services, giving students an essential understanding of the clinical setting they would be exposed to during their course.
Subsequently, the faculty and non-teaching staff of MCON were introduced department-wise by Dr. Judith A. Noronha, Dean of MCON. The program concluded with a note of encouragement and inspiration from the Dean, marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the freshers. This programme supports SDG 4 by promoting inclusive, quality education for future nurses.
